ESA Living Planet Symposium is the event for the Earth Observation (EO) community. For one week every three years, ESA Living Planet Symposium hosts EO professionals, decision makers, businesses and others that might have interest in the newest developments of EO to learn and discuss about the topics of Earth Observation, environment and climate change.
This year, the event took place in Milan from 13 to 17 May, and EO4SD Agriculture and Rural Development cluster attended it with a presentation about the initiative’s activities.
The EO4SD lead eLEAF represented the consortium with a presentation that was attended by 200+ participants, and it was very well received. One of the session’s moderators was Christoph Albrecht, the ESA contact person to the World Bank.
The Living Planet Symposium covered a lot of topics and was visited by many EO4SD stakeholders, for instance representatives of all UN organisations, the World Bank, the European Commission, the Asian Development Bank, the International Fund For Agricultural Development as well as representatives from ESA and all EO4SD clusters, partners and industry (VITO, GeoVille, ITC, DHI, etc.) and scientific organisations presenting their work.
As such, the ESA Living Planet Symposium is both interesting for networking and for gaining an idea on the current status of both scientific and commercial applications in the EO world.
